I have setup a couple of VPN's successfully using netopia products (pptp), However, I have an interesting situation I need some advise on. It appears as if downloads through the VPN tunnel occur at about 9K/sec while uploads occur at approx 50K/sec.
The configuration is as follows
Office has 1.5 MB down / 256 K upload, my home DSL is about 400K Up / 400K down. I tested the upload / download speeds several times, days, and at different traffic times. To download a 1MB file from the office it takes over 2 mins while I can upload 1 MB in less than 20 seconds.
I'm using a netopia 9100, I noticed I can buy a VPN accelerator but am reluctant to because I don't think it will fix my problem. The client is the wonderfully robust Windows 98SE VPN client.
