VPN Connection Hangs in Outlook

I have a Windows 2000 RRAS server setup for PPTP VPN connections. It is a DC with Wins , DNS. We have a sonicwall firewall with the required Ports open for PPTP and I understand protocal 47 is opened by default

My test client is a Windows XP dialing to the internet then establishes a connection Via PPTP to the corporate Network

I can ping, browse network drive's, so resolving names is not an issue.

My problem is outlook 2000 Sr1, when I work offline, 1 out of 20 times the inbox will sync and download messages otherwise it just hangs.

Any ideas ?
