VPN client problem getting certificate

We are trying to setup a VPN using ipsec. The certificate authority is a Microsoft enterprise CA. We can fill in the enroll pages on the client, but it always fails to contact the CA. Any suggestions for what we have got wrong, where to start trying to resovle this?

We have the client on the LAN at present to eliminate the possibility of the PIX being the cause of the problem.
