VPN Bandwidth

Hi all

currently setting up various vpns for numerous sites, however I would like to know how much bandwidth each vpn tunnel uses. I heard once that a vpn tunnel uses 80kb both directions, is this correct or does it depend on the vpn tunnell type? I am using PPP tunnells.

Don't know a specific answer to how much overhead there is with that type of implementation but there is definetly overhead and 80k is not a bad guestimate.

One trick is to change the default MTU on the router to account for the overhead. Then you're not worrying about the fragmentation as much.
