VPN and Internet connection

I am using a cable modem and have successfully setup a VPN connection to my office. Hi

I found this tip helpfull, just keep in mind that you need to reset the proxy setting on the VPN connection after you uncheck the gateway (in the TCP/IP protocol advanced properties). After resetting the proxy it should work fine.

The VPN connection which you make, out there, there is a option called &quot;use default gateway on the remote network&quot; please uncheck that option for the VPN connection.
But ensure this option is checked for the ISP connection

While most of the other posts are correct, but there are other reasons why you may not be able to surf the web while connected via VPN. What type of VPN is your company using? The Bay VPN for example takes control of your NIC while connected and disallows all port access except for its own. This is basically a security feature to disallow someone to &quot;route&quot; through your workstation and into the secure network you are connected to.
