Hi there, I have a problem running XP pro SP2. Recently I've found that the volume control won't maximise. If I double click on it it opens on the task bar but minimised. Nothing I can do makes it maximise so that it can be used.

Any advice much apreciated.

I assume your reference to Minimize and Maximize is referring to sound levels and not any window size?

Have you seen if there are any updated sound drivers for your hardware?

Are there any errors in either Device Manager or the Event Viewer?

Run the DxDiag from the Start Run box, see if that picks up anything.

Use MsInfo32 the same way too.

When did this start happening? Is it something System Restore can fix?

Linney, it does seem as if he's referring to the window and that it will not appear on the screen although it appears in the task bar.

Very strange...have you tried right clicking the Task Bar, and selecting "Move" after you press "Restore"? Maybe it's off the screen edge...
