All:

I'm planning on deploying 9 5610 IP phones connecting back into an IP Office 500. I've never done this type of setup before and I'm hoping you guys/gals can provide me with some guidance (tips, links, how-tos)

I'm running a 3com 4500 swith and I've setup QoS (DSCP ef /cos voice), voice vlan. Since i'm using only 9 phones i plan on using G.711 as the codec, but I'm curious to know what else needs to be configured on the IPO side along with any DHCP options that need to set (e.g. 184?)

Thanks.

9 phones isnt very many and honestly shouldnt require too much in the way of QoS unless the network is heavily used.

I would use a PoE switch and have them on their own network.

make your life easy and use DHCP on the IPO and tick Avaya Handsets Only.

If you install a CF card you can put all your BIN files on it and the IPO will act as your HTTP/TFTP server too.

it doesnt have to be hard.

Thanks for the doc link. I also found the LAN guide and will pour over those as well.

It probably isn't hard at all, but i've never done the setup. I'm still a little curious as to where to setup those phones to use G711 and if i need a separate route for 911 calls. Small little caveats that sometimes may be overlooked.

Thanks again.
