I have been asked by a customer to investiagate the possibility of joining different switches to a voip h323 network. The main site is a Meridian 1 with a signalling server which could provide a gatekeeper functions. The other switches are 2 Altigen's and an Avaya ip office.

Has anyone had expeerience of this setup and how did it work out.

Regards

John

You have to register the remote sites in the Nortel gatekeeper as RAS H323 Endpoint. They have to give you their H323 name to enter their name in Gateway Endpoints.

You must have a virtual trunk up and running on Nortel side as well as remote sites. On Nortel site, H323 licences are necessary for build the VTRK

Gatekeeper act as Network dialing plan. So routing for the whole network have to be done through virtual trunk and GK will send call to the appropriate site.

You can read IP peer networking Nortel doc.
