I have an idea in my head that this is possible, but I would like to be told one way or the other before I bang my head against a wall setting it up. I would like to attach a number of VOIP ATA's and place them into a line pool so that incoming and outgoing calls are performed via the intercom and the system picks from a pre-set group of lines. Also I would like preferences to be made on outgoing calls so that the system picks the cheapest line first. I would set all the VOIP lines to roll over in the other direction to also pick the cheapest line first.
I don't need a full explination just a simple yes or no. shggestions would be helpful tho.
Thanks.

So you'd wire a trunk port to an ATA connected to a system dn? That'll get you back into the system, but not out...

That trick works to solve some issues, but unless I'm not understanding you correctly, it won't get you beyond the system.

I'm not sure I was clear, the VOIP is going to have fxs ports and be connected to the Loop start trunks of the 8x24 so they will show up as line 001 through 008. I've done this with 2 lines already using a Linksys pap2 and it works fine but I'll be adding more and I want to re-program the system to not have line appearances but pools of lines, like a PRI on newer systems.
On a side note, does the 8x24 handle distinctive ring and route calls based on it?
Thanks

if your connecting lines to the trunk port 1-8 ,it doesn't matter to the system how it gets dial tone

put the trks in a pool assign dial 9 access
remove all line appearances and give trk group access and bob's your uncle

8x24 does not have distinctive ringing on trunks or incoming routing ,you need mics 6.1 (i think ,could be 7.1)

you have to program which phone you want to ring on which trk

Thanks, I'm trying it now. I started to mess my self up by reading the wrong book and got off on a tangent with line groups. I'll be sure to report back on how it went

Just a follow up, Can I have lines ring with out having an appearance on a station? I've seen it before on newer 0x32's but this is an 8x24 DR5. Thanks
