Hi all,

I am in the process of upgrading an ip office 8.1.79(500V2) to 9.0.4 and also the voice mail (Centos) from 8 to 9.
The ip office part is fine , however the voicemail seems to be giving me a head acre.
Voice mail currently on a hp DL server and only been used for VMPro , oneX disabled. Ive downloaded the latest Application cd and wheOnXn upgrading I dont have the choice to disable any of the other applications. Considering I already have IP Office running on a 500V2 control unit.
Ive completed the upgrade and all works well - Just that now I have two instances of IP office ( One control unit and other server edition) - Will this cause an issue.

i reverted VMpro back to the previous release whereby only VMPro and oneX was installed and all full operational. I then decided to only copy the .rpm files to the centos based VM server and perform an upgrade. When busy upgrading it comes back and complains about a whole lot of dependancies that needs to be installed - Is this normal or is it suppose to be a simple upgrade.
Can one just upgrade the VMpro app or must you upgrade everything i.e watchdog , webmanager etc

Apologise for the long decription but had to include as much as i can

do I need to upgrade VMPro to 9 if im upgrading hte control unit from 8 to 9

You upgrade all by using the DVD.
It does not matter if you only use voicemail pro.
Also by only updating the rmp's you do not update the OS.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks TLPeter,

So it does not matter if there are two version of IP Office namely the control unit which is the active and the additional server edirion that gets installed with the DVD?

I now see what you mean.
You have a IP500v2 and an apps server right?
9.0 has one download for the apss server and server edition.
The UCM, appsserver and server edition do show up in manager and monitor or SSA.

Also this is a fresh install it will not upgrade, make backups and load from the DVD.

Thats right... the 8.1 version of App Serv only had VMPro and and ONEX. The ve 9.0.x app serv is inclusive of ip office server edition and cannot be excluded from the install or upgrade. I done the upgrade using the dvd and it seemed fine , however there is another version of IP Office in the network (IP Office server edition)

Everything still seems to be ok but just concerrned if there will be any issues at a later stage.

If I upgrade the IP Office IP500V2 to ver 9 could I leave the current VMPro on the server(centos) on ver 8.1.x or do I have to upgrade the VMPro to 9 as well.

You have to upgrade VMPro too.

Go to and see if there is an IPOffice service.
If there is then you made a mistake.

Did you do the ignition? It is during that you will decide to enable the server edition IP Office.

But would only be after a new install.

There is a version of IP Office that is installed by default 9.0 UCM and Apps Servers.

Its not a full IP Office, if you load its configuration you'll see that it can't do much - no trunks or extensions. But it is used to configure things like SNMP, IP routes and IPOSS for the server.

You don't really need to worry about it.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thanks guys for all the input.

Just want to answer a few of the question.
TLpeter - I can access but not - so I think there is hope.

So then could this mean that I load the entire dvd and upgrade all components and just leave the basic install of IP Office server edition just running in the background.

I did try and disabe the IPO service via the cenros cli but it never allowed me to login to the web interface so I started the IPO service.

If this is not advisiable do I have any other options

I would make a backup of VMPro and start all over again.
The 9.0 SE/AppsServer will install everything but when you first login in to than it will do the ignition.
Select the AppsServer on the bottom and there will be no IPOffice.

Thanks TLPeter...I have started the process on a Virtual Machine. Will let you know the outcome. I have a full backup of the clients VM database

Hi tlpeter,

Have done what you recommended , however I am not able to log into the voicemail server. This means I cannot do a restore or make any changes needed by voicemail pro server.

Am i missing somehting

I can however log into both port 7070 and 7071.

i selected the last option when doing the ignition.

Im lost

Do you login with Administrator and Administrator as password?
This is default and if you have different credentials than these where changed.

I log in with Administrator and Administrator.

It tells me in the logs that voicemail is started and shows it fully operational. When I click on the voicemail link it opens up voicemail pro client.

You still need to login when the client is open.

Ive logged into everything that there is but not finding the link to the voicemail pro server so that I can can restore the database.
