Trying to work out if some strange behaviour on R10.0 Virtual SE is due to the installation being moved from VMWare to a Xen hypervisor. One issue is that the passcodes set in the meet me conference module keep resetting themselves meaning the passcode doesn't work until reset (using a custom conference mobule found on here - Kyle's was it?)

Also I needed to correct the system time today but the NTP settings just don't show on the system, system tab anymore, is that normal for virtual R10? I tried setting them via the settings page of the 7071 web server but this didnt have any effect. I also tried assigning a self-admin button to a user with level 2 phone rights but even after disabling NTP the phone only displayed the status rather than allow the time to be set.

Do we think this is due to SE being moved to an unsupported hypervisor or is R10.0 generally a bit buggy?

Are you using variables within the VM pro itself as conference passcodes, or are you pulling VM pro outcalling numbers (Pxxxxxxx from the user/source number tab) as the passcode?

If the former, I've seen multiple versions of VM pro "lose" these variables. Even within a major release, there can be several maintenance patches which seem to regularly forget/wipe out these variables. Well before server edition existed, or the possibility of running app servers/SE as virtualized machines, this problem has appeared, disappeared, repetitively.

Which is why I don't use that method anymore.

If this is the latter (Pxxxxxxx beign wiped out), then that's a new one to me.

Thanks Greybeard191, yes I believe it is using variables to store the passcode but not epxerienced such issues anywhere else I've used the template :(

I think quite a few people on here use the conference template created by a tek-tips user so surprised I don't see any reference to this happening. Do you mean the issue goes away by upgrading but then comes back in a later version?

Thanks

yes, exactly. Upgrading can fix this issue, but also (re)introduce it.

There are two versions of this conference bridge setup (both originally designed by the late Kyle H).

The first and older uses variables, the second and newer (for the exact reason you are complaining of) uses vm pro outcalling numbers as the passcodes, and has the advantage of permitting each each user to have their own bridge by giving them a pxxxxxxx number in their user source tab. The older version requires that bridges be shared, or that separate bridges be built for each user, which is very time consuming.

See here as an example

FWIW, if you're clever you can make moderated or unmoderated versions of these bridges.
