Voice Mail Integration - R1T1 and Active Voice Lingo 3

Hi Folks,

For you "antiques experts"....


I need to know whether a MICS R1T1 will integrate with an Active Voice "Lingo" Voice Mail / Auto Attendant using "old style" ATA.

Here are the details:

Lingo Voice Mail is System Version 102219310 - 2-Ports - and is connected to an NEC KSU right now using SLTA modules. The NEC will go away and replace with the MICS.

In the documentation, Active Voice claims to support 1)Norstar Centrex with Automated Attendant Transfer (code 4901), 2) Norstar Centrex with release transfer (code 4910), 3) Norstar Meridian with integration (code 4930) or 4)Norstar Meridian without integration (code 4931).

They also list DR3 through DR5, but I don't intend to upgrade the software.

I am usng 2 old ATA's. (NT8B90AC-93) REL 06B

2-Digit Dialing. Voice Mail will be ext. 50 and 51.

(4) Loop CO lines only.

Questions:

1) Will the Lingo integrate properly AND turn on the message notification?

2) Which option should I select in the Lingo, see above, 1~4?

3) What would I (or the voice mail) dial through the ATA to turn message indication on/off? The sets are all M7310/M7324.

4) Will both Voice Mail AND AA work ok??

If I remember correctly, the ATA do not have disconnect supervision. You will need to purchase the VMI to support a 3rd party voicemail. Nortel does not guarantee the full compatibility of third party voicemails. You will have to ask Active Voice.

Try contacting Bruce Erickson at Active Voice @ 425-640-9576 x150 office or cell 206-769-5391. He seems pretty knowledgeable and has advised me in the past on other product integration just not with Norstar.

Do you know if Message Waiting can be turned on from an ATA?

I will contact Active Voice (Bruce) and see what he tells me about Lingo/Norstar.

I wanted to thank everyone and let nightwolf know that I spoke to Bruce Erickson at Active Voice. He was very helpful. Thanks!

He tells me that he thinks the "Lingo" will work with any release of Norstar (This one is R1T1), since it uses strictly analog integration.

I'm going to give it a shot next week and I'll leave a post after I do.

Question:

I installed the MICS R1T1 this weekend with the Lingo (Active Voice) using their integration code for a Norstar. I am using (2) ATA's. Extension 50 and 51.

It works, with the following issues:

1) Since I need touch tones to retrieve messages, I have to use "Long Tones" to activate touch tone to retrieve messages internally from the VM.

2) There is a 3~5 second delay on the AA on connecting an incoming call, since it is a supervised transfer. (Released transfer will not forward-no-answer to the proper mail box.)

3) I think we will be having a problem with disconnect supervision/recorded hangups, dial tones , etc.

Sooooooooooo........

What version of Voice Mail, preferably FLASH, will work well/best with the MICS R1T1? (10 mail boxes)

We have two-digit extensions and would like to maintain 2-digits. Used/refurb is OK.

(The MICS has no combo cards installed.)
4 CO Lines / 10 stations.

What is my best bet???

Yes, a flash would be fully integrated, allowing you to use the norstar feature codes. It would connect directly to digital station ports, and you would not need anything else like ATA's to make it work.
2 digit DN's are fine.

We decided to upgrade the R1T1 software on the MICS and use a CP 100 relese 2.1.

I am upgrading everything Monday (2/21).

(We had attempted analog integration with Active Voice / ATA. FLAKEY!)

Should I expect any srprises????

I don’t know what you mean by "surprises". I would hope that you have successfully completed many similar Nortel installs, in which case, you should not expect any surprises. However, if you are asking about surprises because you have never installed a MICS & CP from scratch, or you are generally unfamiliar with the process, then I would implore you to sub it out to a qualified Nortel vendor. Or at least have one on hand for the programming. You should also change to 3 digit DN's for hunt group functionality since you are basically re-installing.
