i've got a system with cat 3524 switches and cisco ip phones with a call manager server. i've not had any experiance with the voice said of things and the person who deals with that is on leave. what we have setup at the moment are the phones plugged into the switch and the pc pluged into the phone.

the switch is set to trunk dot1q and the phone picks up vlan 150 for the voice and vlan 1 for the pc. which is fine, but i now need to move the pc onto vlan 5 and there are no spare network points in the area for the pc to plug into.

what i want to know is where do i change the information about the pc's vlan? is it on the switch or in the callmanager software.

any help would be grate.

thanks,

Since these are 3500XL's (I presume?) then you have to change the Native VLAN of the Trunk to VLAN 5:

interface fastethernet0/1
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk native vlan 5

The newer switches (2950, 3550 & 3750) don't need to explicitly be configured to trunk and only allow the Access VLAN plus one other 802.1q tagged VLAN (the Voice VLAN). On these switches you configure the access VLAN:

interface fastethernet0/1
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 5
