VNC on Solaris 8

I have compiled VNC on my Solaris when I run I get errors. Any help please;

./vncserver
Can't modify constant item in scalar assignment at ./vncserver line 34, near "$PATH:"
syntax error at ./vncserver line 34, near "$PATH:"
Bareword found where operator expected at ./vncserver line 34, near "/usr/X"
(Missing operator before X?)
Bareword found where operator expected at ./vncserver line 34, near "/usr/openwin"
(Missing operator before penwin?)
Execution of ./vncserver aborted due to compilation errors.

Is there any reason why you aren't using the pre-compiled packages available at

http://www.sunfreeware.com

or

http://www.realvnc.com,

for example?

Also it would help if you supplied the exact verion of VNC and where you obtained it.

I am using the pre-compiled package

I am now getting this error message

vncserver: couldn't find "xauth" on your PATH.

Any ideas?

Try adding /usr/X/bin to your PATH before you run vncserver.

export PATH

am still getting

The error says it all. "vncserver: couldn't find "Xvnc" on your PATH". Add the directory containing Xvnc to the PATH as well... note that in Unix/Linux the current working directory is not searched automatically like it is in DOS, for example.

my vnc is install under /usr/local/bin/
I have done it,

I now get "vncserver: couldn't find "Xvnc" on your PATH."

This is my profile as at now.

What does it say if you type which Xvnc?

I am having same issue with Solaris10
# which Xvnc
no Xvnc in /usr/sbin /usr/bin
my Xvnc is in /opt/sfw/bin
any suggestion to run this Xvnc Sucesully.

Try entering command "xhost +" before you start Xvnc
