Hi!

Can i backup my servers who contains vmware with OFM or is it bether to backup each vmware client as an client?

one way to find out is test it; f.y.i. once you install the trial license it is very very differcult to extent the trial license/serial number - at least under Windows OS. Good-luck and post a note of your findings.

what kind of vmware you have? (ESX,GSX,Workstation)

there is a paper regarding this issue. But my response is "it depends on your needs". Ussualy you would want to backup your servers as normal servers (installing the NW client in the guest OS).
