Hey there I am running windows xp on a AMD 1800+ w/ 512 MB DDR RAM. Anyways I have this silly problem. I installed VMWare workstation 3.1 to I can test out other OS's at the same time while working in windows. Anyway I never used Mandrake before so I thought I would give er a try. I downloaded 9.0 from on of the mirror servers and then burned the iso's and everything went smooth. Once I get started the installation, I can get through all the steps except I keep running into a problem once i get to the partitioning and formatting. I can manually partition the virtual sda1 no problem but when I go to write I keep getting this error that says "An error occured, ext2 formatting of sda1 failed". Weird enough I selected ext3 or others and I still get the same error everytime and then of course it just tells me to reboot and then I have to start all over again. Anyone here used VMWare or have some helpful tips for this situation cause seems pretty silly to me when you can't install Mandrake....this is like kindergarden where the thing just takes your hand and carries you through the whole process. Anyways just thought I would ask incase there is something I am forgetting or missing here.

the read me pdf file will help from Vmware

I was asking for some input...not directions to the readme file. I have done that already..I ain't some lazy newb.

I am going to try just doing an install on another machine here and see what happens....then I will know if maybe by chance the cd itself is pooched or maybe it is some kinda conflict with VMWare.

Hi!

I have not used Mandrake for a long time but I used Suse last week I installed Vmware 3.2 It worked fine but I noticed that If I selected ACPI support installation it doesn't work, Does Mandrake have the same option?
