Hi guys

I'm working on trying to improve my network. It's made up of about 14 switches all connected to the backbone switch (all 3500) and i want to work on security. I have one VLAN (standard) and i want to arrange dynamicaccess to the network using VMPS, what do i need? I know i need to make a MAC-VLAN asci file and place it on a tftp server, but can this be a normal file server? Couls someone give me a bit of a walk through. cheers

You need either a Catalyst 5x00, 6x00 or 4x00 switch running CatOS as the VMPS server; this in turn talks to the TFTP server for the VLAN database (text file......). Alternatively you can use the Cisco URT Appliance (User Registration Tool) as the VMPS Server. This offers loads more features such as RADIUS & External User Database support (Active Directory, Netware Directory Services, LDAP etc).
