Currently every office user has to have two users in IP office, a user for their extension and a user for their fax. The fax user points to a non-existent extension so it can send it to the faxfinder. The incoming call route for the fax DID points to this fax user. The faxfinder looks at the extension the fax is routed to and emails it to the appropriate person. I'd like to eliminate the fax Users and have VM Pro handle this in a module.

Would it be possible to send all fax DID's to a VM Pro module, that forwards to my fax group that sends it to the FaxFinder? Currently when I do it, the faxfinder see's the fax coming from my hunt group extension and doesn't know what to do with it. I need to grab the last 3 digits of the fax DID being called and send it to the faxfinder (for example if my fax number is 777-666-1234 then their fax extension in FaxFinder is 234, I need to send that to faxfinder instead of the extension of the huntgroup).

Look at the "Short Code method"

Ok it has me somewhat confused. I have everything setup for the first 4 steps (skipping step 2, set Caller Display Type to OFF right?).

Now when I get to step 5a I'm having issues. Our fax DIDs all start with 777-891-9xxx. for example mine is 777-891-9425. The next user is 9426, 9427 and so on. Any fax DID's will end with 94xx. FaxFinder is configured to look at the last 3 digits to know how to route (427,428,429,430 etc..).

I setup the shortcode like so: CODE: 8919DXXX and the Telephone Number: 222DN (222 is my fax group). When I do this and dial a fax DID it gives me a 'CALL CANT BE COMPLETED AS DIALED' message. I've attached a screenshot of my short code. I think that is where the problem is.

Anyone know? I'm having some issues with the faxes right now because of the way it is currently setup.

Thank you!

CODE: 8919DXXX and the Telephone Number: 222DN (222 is my fax group).
must be : CODE: 8919XXX and the Telephone Number: 222DN (222 is my fax group).

Thank you all! This is exactly what I've been looking for and trying to do!

One more quick question... doing it using the fax user extension use to pass the fax senders DID and put it in the email like so:

From: 777-738-8388
Subject: Fax Server - Fax Received : from '777-738-8388' to 'UserName'

Using this shortcode method it doesn't anymore, it simply says:

From: Fax Server: Fax Received - From: '' To: 'UserName'

Is there a way to get the fax senders DID back in the email using the shortcode method?

Thanks!
