I moved a VM PRo 5.0 (30) to a vmware server. It worked fine for 2 weeks then some messages started to disappear from user's mailboxes. I uninstalled it and re-installed it and it worked fine for about 2 weeks then the same thing started. Does anyone have a clue?

officially I think R5 was not supported on virtual platforms but I know that some people had it working.
Messages disappearing is something that a lot of customers complained in the past and I have actually only once had a case where that was the case because the HDD was dying and crashed a few days later.
Other than that it was people claiming to leave messages and never actually left one but hung up before it was time to record.

If you have SMDR logging then check in the log if the calls were really going to vm and long enough to leave messages.
If you don't have SMDR then you could run SSA on continuous mode and check it that way. Very tedious and time consuming but might bring you closer to the solution.

you can also run the Vm on a pc aside from vm ware and test it that way depending how many ports you have running and the call volume a cheap little PC will usually do the trick for that.

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

Thanks. According to the documentation it is compatible. I suspect that the trouble is with the server.
