we have (1) 2600 router, (3) 2950 switches, (1) sonic wall pro 2040, (1) pix 501, and (1) cisco vpn 3002

first switch:
has the router, pix, vpn, and wan side to the sonic wall pluged into it

second two switched are hooked into the lan side of the firewall........

question:
would i be able to set up a vlan on the first switch with the first 8 ports for the wan side of things, then take 9-24 and put a patch cable to the two other switches?

i have a lil 8 port switch for expansion hooked into the two on the lan side, but we out grew that, i either need to get a fourth switch for the lan side, or i was hoping i would be able to utilize the vlan function, atleast until the new budget.......

Should be able to do that. In labs we often take a switch, VLAN it and attach it to other interfaces on the same router to conserve hardware. An uplink to another switch is still an uplink.
