I have a customer that has a MICS using Valcom 2001A paging system with 4 horns in a warehouse.

This is a very noisy area and he wants the employees to use a cordless phone to answer calls.

I was going to connect a Uniden via an ATA, I have done this before instead of the Nortel cordless because it is cheaper for the customer.

The problem is that it is so loud in the warehouse the person walking around with the phone can not hear the ringer. They will also be putting the phone is their pocket and further muffle the phones ringer volume.

I want to know if I can send a ringer signal over the horns so they will know this phone is ringing. I know I can use a loud gong bell as well but I would rather take advantage of all 4 existing hours in all warehouse locations instead of running new station cable and billing the customer for more equipment.

Is it possible to send a signal thru the Valcom when the extension for the cordless is dialed?

Thanks

Yes the 2001-A will do the trick for you. Check the specs of the Unit. Wire it to the Aux Ringer port on your Norstar & turn on Aux ringing under capabilities for the Ext of the ATA. When your cordless phone rings you will get warble tone over valcom.

pccal works like a charm. I think this is exactly what the customer is going to want.

It was a little hard to wrap my mind around as far as the wiring but once it clicked in it was easy.

CONTACT CLOSURE RELAY 1 to the INPUT on the Valcom 2001, add AUX RING to that ext. What I was missing was sliding the TONES switch and increasing the VOLUME on the Valcom unit to get it to sound.

The Warble is so different you can;t help but know that it is the phone ringing.

Thanks!

Also, Nortel distinctive ringing lets the customer know what is ringing i.e.:

STRAIGHT tone is a CO line ringing in the first time, a DOUBLE tone is a call that was transferred to the set via another user or the auto attendant.
