I had an IPO V2 cabinet go bad. I used the chassis of an in house demo system to replace it (8.0(46)). I took all the modules and SD card out of my demo before I sent it out, and exported the licenses just to be safe. I just got a V2 back from repair. It has no modules or SD card in it. I put in the modules and the SD from my demo unit into the new chassis. It is saying on a phone that I have no licenses, and several of my licenses show as Dormant in Manager. The Virtual Essential License is not showing up, which is why Preferred, Advanced, and other licenses are showing as dormant. How do I get the Virtual Essential license back? I have a copy of the database that shows the Virtual Essential license, but it does not show up in the system when the config is uploaded. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

You can't now. When they repair it they reset the chassis 90 day clock, but as soon as you load anything above 8.0.44 it's gone and that's required to generate the virtual licence......sorry but it's gone for good no way back :)

So what you are telling me is that the system is now a boat anchor.
What if I try to downgrade it below 8.0.44?

Nope, anything above 8.0.44 removes it from the chassis for good, no going back. It's not a boat anchor you just need to pay for essential edition or use it in basic mode :)

I think I have seen this discussion before and this is why you should never use the virtual essential edition licence.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

So even if a system comes with the virtual essential, I should buy a regula essential license so that I will never lose it.

Not really, just wait until it goes pop then buy it, only takes a matter of mins to get a licence :)

It does not come with a virtual essential licence but you need to create one to get it.
When you apply the real one then the virtual disappears.

Indeed, I was assuming you meant a used system :)

This system ran for well over 90 days and never went out of licenses.

It does not disappear after 90 days but if your system breaks down and you need to replace it then it won't move along with the SD card as it is tight to the chassis.
And then you have a problem as any licence that needs an essential edition licence will go dormant.

Thanks for the help guys. If this happens again, but I have an actual Essential Edition license, then re-installing the license should make everything happy right?
