hi i am currently working with VS 2003, .net 1.1.
i have 2005 beta 2 CD.
if i install 2005 instead of 2003 should i change my projects. i have several applications developed in vs 2003, and dont want to loose or change anything.
can i go on with 2005 with my current 2003 projects. i am mainly working on asp.net.
i am hesitating...
thanks

Why don't you just keep VS 2003 installed as well?

i want to use 2005 because i need to use some dll s which can be used with 2.0.

Well keep 2003 installed as well as I suggested above. You can always keep a backup copy of your project before opening it in 2005 and making any changes.

The versions 2003 and 2005 do not crash. You can have both framework versions to work without a single problem (till now)

With the production version of VS.NET 2005 available now for download on MSDN to subscribers, I would wait before installing the beta. The physical DVDs will be available on/about November 8th.

If ordered online from microsoft.com, what is the price (+ shipping). In dollars or Euros.

Tnx

It's probably too soon to order, as the MS ordering website still has VS 2003 listed.

If you order from someone else (like Amazon.com), make sure they're an authorized reseller (Amazon is), otherwise if there's a problem with your order you'll have a tough time getting it resolved.

For VS 2005, they have the Express editions which seem to be available for free. But it's rather limited in what you can build with it.

Visual Studio Standard edition is $299 and is probably what most people will buy.

Visual Studio Professional editions start at $799

What is the difference of these? I mean for developing?

- Express
- Pro
- Team system

2005 beta version is not working any more, i tried to install... waste it..

Beta 1 is not working.
Beta 2 works fine, untill the official release of the stable version of MSVS2005. I think in a month or two.

for msdn users it is alerady available for download and it will be on the next posting of cd/dvd's on november 8th. It's onl 2,5Gb to download and 1,5gb for the library. So what are you waiting for.
