Currently minor problem, but...

Opening the games folder from the menu and clicking on any games, get:

vista error.jpg

The games run ok directly from the menu (ie, normal shortcut - if you get the games to open inside the menu). I'm not sure what breed the icons in the games folder are!)

I'm suspecting cause was using x-setup (ver 6.5) to remove the (horrible) big arrow on desktop shortcuts (I know, stupid using an XP tweak tool when they've messed with stuff for Vista - missing tweakui!). X-setup did say it would also remove any shortcut keys set up (even in XP).

Looking at file associations in Vista - not obvious to me which if any need changing and to what to fix this. Nothing else seems to be affected - so no problem unless something else more significant turns up later.

Did promise myself I wouldn't mess with main PC (but obviously failed at first hurdle) - having finally moved main PC to Vista yesterday - will no doubt be posting frequently for a while!

Any insights appreciated.

Does X-Setup have any Restore function? What about System Restore?

Have you looked at right-clicking on those icons in the GamesExplorer folder and selecting Customize and Edit, just to see if you can do anything with that?

Hi Linney - putting the arrow back with x-setup fixes the problem - but obviously puts the arrow back! I'm sure system restore would have too - but also would have put the arrow back. So for the time being, looks like I'll have to either have the arrows or not have the games folder working. I'll probably just remove shortcut icons from my desktop.

btw - the customize function doesn't allow you to edit when the arrow is missing. Those games folder icons are certainly different!
