Vista collated print issue

I've posted this in some printer forums, but have not found a soluion and everybody including tech support for Xerox seem to thinkn this is a Microsoft issue.

Vista Ultimate pc - prints to a Xerox Phaser 8400, when the collate option is chosen it does not collate. It will print collated copies to our HP printer.

So far I have removed the drivers, ports and anything related to the printer. Re-install with the same results. Tried different drivers, no luck.

Set up a different Vista box with same drivers and can collate.

Is it something like this XP and Server 2003 problem?

Print features, such as the watermarks feature, the n-up printing feature, and the collate feature, do not work if you print to a Novell, to an IPP, or to another partial print provider in Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003

The last statement describes it exactly, if you print multiple copies it does not collate. Of course it does not mention Vista, but Windows Server 2003 is a cloelsy related cousin so it may.

I guess I will have to email Microsoft and see if it will apply and take it from there.
