I am the only one using my PC which has Vista Basic installed and always in admin mode, yet it always keep changing resolution and font on its own. I need it bigger so I can see.

It will not save settings once I get it the way I want.

check in eventviewer for errors/msg

do you use the latest drivers for your graphiccard (model)?

try
"Start menu>Run>type "msconfig" without quotes>select tab "BOOT INI" Probably you´ll see the menu called "Boot Options", there you should uncheck "/BASEVIDEO". Restart and everything should be just fine"

Yes, it is a NEW PC just ordered from DELL so drivers are all correct [or should be].
The item suggested is UNCHECKED and PC still changes on its own.

It sounds like Windows is automatically picking your resolution and such for you when it starts each time. I forget where the setting is, but there is a way to disable it. If someone can remember what/where that setting is, I think that'll be a simple checkbox fix, honestly.

The reason I think this is this: You said you need the fonts bigger so you can read... so you're reducing your screen resolution in order for everything to be larger. I've had several people who needed the same thing.

I just can't think where that setting is right away...

Usually if it's a driver issue, the resolution will be too small (say 800x600 instead of 1024x768), but you're having the opposite problem.

Also... being this is a new PC, I'd recommend you contact Dell directly, and if they can't solve your issue, if nothing else, you can get it replaced with another, or depending upon your warranty/service contract, you may can get someone to come out to your house for free to make sure it's "right".
