I performed a windows update the other day on my Dell D630 laptop and when I start defender it keeps on saying that a new version of windows defender is available for download!

How can I stop this as its getting a bit annoying?

I know this may seem a bit obvious, but have you thought of downloading and installing it?

Cheers, Mike.

Yup tried that and it comes back saying that defender is already installed. This issue also happened a while back and I just cannot remember what I did to fix it.

Is it Defender or Windows Update giving you this message? You could right-click on any offered update from Windows Updates and select the option to hide the update.

In Windows Defender/ Tools/ Options, there is a check box to control whether Defender checks for updated definitions before scanning, perhaps unchecking that might be a workaround?
