This project I am working on involves a network switch-like layout; the links going into and out of the switch are stored in a database. The Visio diagram is supposed to update dynamically according to the tables.

My questions are:

1. Is there any tutorial or information on linking such a dynamic diagram with a remote database?

2. What additional software package (Visual Basic, etc.) is required for Visio to establish Sybase connections and perform/handle queries?

3. Is Visio capable of dynamically increasing/decreasing links and shapes into the switch, according to the number of entries in the database?

As you can see, I am new to the Visio community. Any information, even if just a link to beginner tutorials or other forums, would be appreciated.

Thank you very much. I will check into these resources. Hopefully these urls can be added to assemble a FAQ collection of Visio tutorial links for easier searching.

I have tried the link to faroukmusa and can now reverse engineer a database in a few minutes! I'm impressed as it would have taken me a day to analyse and draw.

Does anyone know how to automatically add the entity relationships to the diagram?

What does your database look like for this? Can you post a sample?
