Virus Protection File

Hello,

I have some questions concerning the virus protection in Backup Exec:

How come that the latest virus protection file dates from MAY 2004?
There are new virusses every day. How does Backup exec work in checking for virusses? Is every file which is backed up verified for virusses?

What is the virus check for?

Why don't you just get proper virus protection software and not worry about using BE virus protection.

I never understand the reasoning behind doing a virus check while the backup is going - if you have proper realtime protection setup, then you wouldn't need to do it during the backup.

It's any wonder why this feature is gone in 9.x
