Hi
I have a freinds computer to clean up for him. I treid to scandisk and it wouldn't complete bacause another prog kept interupting, so i did it in safe mode with the same results. explorer is the only thing running, so i'm thinking virus..

i ran norton anti-virus from the cd,it didn't find anything but that's happand to me before to where it didn't detect a virus present..

my ? is, when i boot to the cd to scan for a virus it looks for definitions on the A drive.. can someone tell me how to put up to date definition on a floppy..

my #2 computer is running norton anti-virus that i keep updated so i have up to date definitions,I just don't know how to put them on a floppy so when i run anti-virus from the cd it will find the up to date definitions

THANKS

Try doing an on-line scan...but don't trust just "Trend"....use at least another if you really think there's a "nasty" on it. Or run scandisk in DOS.

i do have a problem, actualy my buddy has the problem but i'm trying to straighten it out for him..
he has the virus on his computer, at least i'm thinking he has a virus
i fix(try) computers for people for free and i learn in the process

THANKS

Yes....considering how new you are...I WOULD DEFINITELY NETWORK THIS INFECTED PC TO ANOTHER BEFORE SCANNING AND CLEANING IT. Are you insane? Clean the damned thing and experiment later.

I apreciate your confidence..
I finaly found instructions on how to do it, not from a floppy though.
i put the def on a zip and i have a parrell zip i use when i extract the drivers before i format somebody's pc.. put the def in c/vdef then boot from cd get to command prompt and typed
navdx c: /l /doallfiles /prompt /cfg:c:\vdefs

and away it went
but thanks for your replies:)

Like I said...you never really had a problem....you were using us to experiment.
