I am running VPC 4.3 Build 230 on a Windows 2000 host, The PC (Dell Optiplex 256 Meg RAM) is connected to our company network (NT Domain)
Thay have just installed internet tracking software (GateKeeper)and now i can not connect to the internet through my windows 95 VPC

When the win95 VM boots up it says that it cannot connect to the gateway service.

after doing a few checks i found that doing an WINIPCFG told me that there was no IP address or subnet mask.

also using ping said destination host unreachable.

although when i start mt windows 2000 VM this does have an IP address and subnet mask.

is it possable to get a Win95 VM onto the internet running GateKepper.

You need to treat the Virtual PC just as if it were a *real* pc on Win2K..

Make sure you are not set as a shared connection, you want *switched*.. this way it uses the networks DHCP or you can give it a static IP..

Make sure you have installed the update/patch

Make sure you have installed the Windows extensions within the virtual PC when it's running.

I have Windows 2K running NT4.0, Win98 and XP as virtuals.. I also have a laptop with Win2K running the above PLUS windows Termial Server with good sucess. THe only one that gave some issues was using ME as the host because of the shared IP.. but even then I would run NT, XP, 2K Adavnced Server and have them work.. but slowly ;-)

On a Mac Os system 9.2.1 when I try to launch a program after Connectix Virtual PC is up and running I get the message:

"Too many other files are currently in use by 16 bit programs. Quit one or more 16 bit programs, or increase the value of the FILES command in your Config.sys file"

I have no programs open (that I know of)! Any help??

Thanks,

Eddie
