Hello, I'm trying to change my DNS server from one machine to another. The problem is that I will have to tell all my clients to change the DNS IP from their machines.

I will like to know if there's a way to give the NIC a second IP (virtual one). I know that you can do it on Linux, but not so sure on Windows 2000

Thanks a lot

sure you can
Simply go to TCP/IP, click advanced and you will be able to configure a second TCP/IP address

Don't forget to set the DNS server to listen to both IP addresses !

And in the future : you might consider implementing DHCP. When a certain DNS or WINS server changes, all you would have to do is changing the DHCP scope options...

Anyway good luck ---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work
