Virtual Directory Problem

I had a physical directory located in my c:\inetpub\

http://wwwroot

directory called clients. However, the server was getting tight for space so, using Windows NT Explorer, i moved the clients directory to another drive and entered the MMC to create a virtual directory named clients to point to the new location. However, when I try to do this, it tells me that a virtual directory of that name already exists. However, it is not listed in the MMC.
