Virtual Device Driver error in Registry

After a bit of a strange crash (apparent conflict of antivirus pgms) and a "last known good configuration" restore in my Win 2K Pro network server, the DOS-based inventory/POS software we run on the server only opens when choosing "ignore" to a warning which says the Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid.

Once ignored, the program runs OK. I'd like to repair this problem and would appreciate advice.

Thanks.

Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and click the following value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD

On the Edit menu, click Delete.
On the Edit menu, click Add Value.
Type VDD in the Value Name box, click REG_MULTI_SZ for the Data Type, and then click OK.
The Multi-String editor appears. Leave this entry blank and click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.
