Not sure if this is the right place for this sort of question.

We need to setup some kind of virtual printer to capture reports and send them to a PDF file.

At the moment what we have is a HP printer that is sent data from an iSeries. This printer holds a series of macros in its memory and the jobs call various macros to create overlays.

What we need is something to act the same as the HP printer in that it stores and runs macros, but outputs the report to a PDF file, without any user intervention. The name of the PDF file must be picked up from within the document itself.

Is anybody doing anything like this?

There are several free ones like pdf995 & cutepdf, but personally, I think that the additional features of PDF-Xchange is worth the money.

Will look at pdf-xchange. The problem with the other two is that they need to look inside the document to find the file name, as there will be nobody to manually enter one. Also they need to hold and run Macros for overlays.
