Viewing Quick Time Downloads

I downloaded a video from Apple's tunes store and whn I run it using Apple's Quick time the video does not work right. I get the audio OK but apparently my PC is too slow to run the Quick Time properly (I get a different video frame about every 3-4 seconds; everything in between is skipped).
Irfanview, for example has a Quick Time plug-in. I don't know if it would work any better but I can't find where Apple buries the video on my C-disk to point to it.
Where does Apple put it?
And is there anything else I could use to run the video that may work better on a slow machine?

Thanks

Have you tried showing hidden and system files in Folder Options/ View and searching for any .mov files?

alternative Quicktime players

Any Plugin from Irfanview (see the Video plugin) I believe is available on their site but requires that you have Quicktime installed to actually use it?

Thanks, linney, for the suggestions. I have hidden and system files displayed but it still does not find that file (it does find other .mov files but not the one from Apple tunes). As I can't find the file I haven't tried the alternatives.
Perhaps I can find an address for Apple tunes and try
e-mailing Apple and see if they will tell me..

They may just be residing in the "Temporary Internet Files" Folder or even under the "c://windows/temp" folder...

since you have IrfanView, use it to navigate to the folders, the TIF-folder will display 4 different subfolders (which do not appear when you use the explorer nor are they usually included in a search)...

What exactly did you download, I take it was not saved as a file to your usual saving folder? Was it downloaded by a Download Manager? Did it end up in the Temporary Internet Files folder? Was it a mammoth download, or can you download it again and put a bit of string on it and see where it ends up? Perhaps just start and stop the download to get a "fix" on it?

Have you tried searching the Registry if you know the name of the video? If Quicktime can find it for you, are there any recently used files in any list that can tell you more?

For example WMP keeps a list here -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList, perhaps Quicktime has such a list in the Registry.

Are we sure that the extension is .mov? Have you displayed file extensions in Folder Option/ View too?

Just as a side, what spec is your machine "slow" is relative these days.
My "old" Athlon 1.8 would be classed as slow, but works ok for what I want (well until I but the HD camcorder anyway)

linney: Apple itunes downloaded it when I purchased it so I had no control over it (at least I don't recall having any control) and I don't want to have to purchase it again to find out. I don't really know what filetype Apple itunes uses. I'll try searching on the filename tonight but it could be the main title or the episode title (or perhaps encrypted in a way that only Quick Time can interpret?)I'll also check the extensions in Folder Option/ View.

StuReeves: my slow pc is 1,000MHz . Interestingly, when I stream the same video from a website (in this case NBC) it plays much better (I believe they use Adobe to play it). It still misses some frames but it's much better and good enough to be able to watch it. I wanted to have a permanent copy (no telling when they will be removed from that website and no longer viewable) so I purchased it from Apple itunes store. Apparently Quick Time needs a much faster machine than Adobe.

From another side of things to improve the performance of your video, what about temporarily disconnecting from the Internet, and turning off any other running programs to see if that improves performance?
