Viewing missed calls?

I am trying to setup our Definity so that users can view missed calls on their phones (6408D+).

I have read on the forums how to setup the phones and I got done, but the one thing I cant figure out is, everyone says you have to:

"In cha system-parameters feature page 2
set Maximum numbers of external calls logged per station: 10
set Message waiting indicaton for external calls? Y"

I don't have those options available. All I have is:

In cha system-parameters feature page 2
Maximum number of messages per station (when MSA not in service): 10

Does this have anything to do with the fact that we are running Audix for vmail?

Thanks,
Brandon

Not really.

It just means that you may not get message waiting lamps for outside calls. Internal calls should still light the message waiting lamp to alert you to missed calls.

I can't seem to display incoming call history on the phones.

The only options I have on page 2 when I do a "change station xxxx" is:

LWC Reception: msa-spe
LWC Activation: y

In some of the posts here I have read:

1. Enter the command change station xxxx
2. On page 2, set the field LWC Log External Calls to "y".
3. Program the following buttons (soft-keys): msg-retr and delete-msg

The only thing I have been able to do is program the hard keys to msg-retr and delete-msg. I can't find anything that says LWC Log External Calls.

Thx
Brandon

Essentially, you're using the Leave Word Calling feature.

You're setting the feature so that it will automatically create a LWC message if any calls go unanswered. This differs from setting the feature so that a caller has to press a LWC button, and dial the phone extension he/she just called to create a LWC message.

You change the:
Maximum number of messages per station (when MSA not in service)
so that LWC will show all of the call attempts rather than just the last call attempt by a station. (Which is the default.)

The msg-retr, next, and delete-msg buttons allow you to retrieve, scroll through, and delete the LWC messages.

You'll want the LWC messages to be in the SPE, (page 2 of the station form) not the Audix or MSA. If you leave them in the Audix or MSA, you have to dial into voicemail to hear your LWC messages. Keeping them in the SPE allows you to view them on the phone display.

Thanks for the reply dufus2506, I really appreciate it.

I still cannot seem to get it to work, the phone just says "no messages" when I press msg-retr & next. Here is what I have, let me know if I am missing something.

Cha sys fea:

Maximum number of messages per station (when MSA not in service): 10

Cha sta xxxx:

LWC Reception: msa-spe
LWC Activation: y
Hard keys: msg-retr and delete-msg
Soft keys: next

Thanks again,
Brandon

What version of Definity/Aura are you running?

Yeah... Your system is too old.

You need to upgrade to use this feature as a call log. Without the fields you're missing, you can't have the system log calls automatically. A caller would have to be on the system, and use the LWC feature codes or LWC buttons. (Which is why the system asks about external calls.)

Time to upgrade. Your system revision is no longer supported anyway.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the help!

We no longer have a maintenance agreement w/ Avaya. Is there a way I can still get a sw upgrade without maintenance? Is it pricey?

Thanks,
Brandon

Price will all depend on what you have. Find a Avaya Business Partner, and they can help you figure that out.
