Viewing a Crystal 8 Report without using a full installation

Hi,

I have created several reports in crystal 8 that I want my end users to view. However, I don't want them to be able to modify anything. I have read a lot of information about using the crystal viewer. However, the information provided has not helped me. I know there is a way to do this without fully installing Crystal on eveyone's computer. Any help would be great!

Okay - I have now compiled my report. However, I can no longer open them through my Access application. I am using .Action = 1 and get a message "Method Action of object CrystalCtrl failed" How can I get arounf this? I am using Crystal 8.0.

Okay , I went to the Crystal support page and used the follwoing line of code:

appCR.ReportFileName = Shell(strreport, 1)

My strReport is the path and name of the executable file I wish to open. The only problem I am encountering now is that I pass a parameter to my report and for some reason the compiled report does not pick up the parameter, whereas the direct Crystal report did. I am prompted for the parameter when I click to view the report. Is there any way I can get around this? Version 8.

You can't launch compiled reports from an application. Compiled reports are for standalone reports. If you are launching from an application you should use one of the 4 integration methods. I have used them with VB but not with MS Access. I hear that certain verisons of MS Access can do pretty much the same thing as VB. Ken Hamady
