I have a user in a peer-to-peer DHCP router setup. This user can access the internet, print, and I can remote onto his machine through remote desktop.

However, whenever you try to map a drive or try to view workgroup computers in My Network Places he gets this error:

When mapping we get this:
Windows
The mapped network drive could not be created because the following erro has occurred: Incorrect Function

When opening View Workgroup Computers we get this :
RMGROUP is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Please the administrator of this server to see if you have access permissions. Incorrect Function.

Last Monday this was working fine. I want to find out why it has changed and fix it.

Please help me!!!

Thanks!

hmmm... does it have antivirus software on it? Wouldn't hurt to update the sig's and do a scan..

If that doesn't do it, I'd probably just reinstall the networking components, eg. tcp/ip and client for ms networks

I found the answer!!!!!!!!

In Services.msc the Network DDE DSDM was stopped. Once this was restarted it worked fine.

So glad we could find the problem!!

Interesting... I thought that service was recommended to be disabled..

Sweet though!
