view on second monitor lost

I am running a Matrox G450 Dual Head displpay card with 2 new monitors in XPP on a P4 2.3 Gb IBM machine with 1GB of Ram.
I just did a fresh install of XP, updated everything and the dual monitor function worked fine. I then updated the driver for the video card and now there is no image on the 2nd monitor. All settings have been adjusted for multi monitor in display settings and Matrox utility. The driver came from Matrox website and is the correct one for the card (according to them).
Has anyone got any ideas as to why it won't work now?
Having had it and lost it is really a bummer when working in graphics.

Double check the refresh rate and make sure that it is not out of the supported range for the second display.

Refresh rate is correct. This happened earlier this past summer and the only way I could rectify it was to reinstall XP.
Further thoughts?

This might sound like a stupid suggestion but are both the monitors the same or are they different?

Are they both set to digital/analog or are you using the hybrid method.

Did you update the card bios?

are the screen resolution and color quality the same for both monitors?

Thanks: There is no such thing as a stupid sugestion...
The monitors are not the same, one is an IBM L180P (primary) and the other an LG L1715S (secondary).
Both are set to 1024 x 768 and the refresh rates are 60Hz.
Both are analog feeds and I don't see anyplace where I can select digital.

Have you tried swapping the monitors on the card?
