I have a comp runnung windows xp sp2 (AMD athlon xp 2000+, 256 mb. nvidia geforce4). My problem is that the monitor cant get any signal from my comp. I tried moving my comp to another power source and it works ok, but when i reboot same thing happens again. whats the problem here? thanks in advance

Have you tried the monitor on another system, or the system with a different monitor?

Yes i did and same thing happens.

I think you need to provide more details here.

But from your second post, test:

. The monitor does not work on another System?
If yes, replace the monitor. It is still possible given your first post this is a mains power issue.

. The problem computer does not work with another monitor?

If yes, open the case remove the video board, clean the gold contacts gently with a clean pencil eraser and reinsert the video board and test. But see the power issue above.

Did what, try monitor or different system?

yes, i use a different monitor and same thing happens. when i tried to use the monitor on a different system it works. So where do you think is the problem?

It sounds like you eliminated the monitor! as the culprit so that leaves the base unit.
Video output obviously comes from the GF4 graphics card fitted so start here.
Reseat the card (remove, clean the contacts with an pencil rubber/erazor then refit) any differance?
Try another graphics card if you can
I have also experienced incidences where a weak power supply was responsible for the graphics card failing to initialize (so trying another PSU would be a good idea) if you can loan one?
Check the main power plug to motherboard (I have seen several that have seen signs of overheating due to poor terminal contact) again lowering the AGP voltage causing the graphics card not to initialize.
Check mains power cables and plugs (loose wires etc)
