video problems

I have a dell laptop vostro 1000;XP Home Edition; AMD Sempron Processor 3600; 2GB Ram. ever since i downloaded an updated video driver ATI Radeon 1150 express from driver detective. Im seeing two types of errors. One is the screen will start show scribble and I cannot see anything; second, im getting a windows error win32 debugging issue with visual studio. Do you think my video card has gone bad or the ATI driver is not working well with my system type issue.

I'd say that it is a driver issue. Have you tried rolling back your driver? What was the reason that you updated your video driver in the first place?

yes i have rolled it back. and every time i rebooted the ATI radeon 1150 re-installs itself. when i first got driver detective it had saw that my video card driver was outdated. it re-installed itself again no problems so far after this last re-install. hopefully no mo errors occur.

you did not specify but it is always best to uninstall all traces of the previous driver + the bundled apps before installing the new versions. you could also try downloading the latest drivers from the vendor website if you are using brands like HP or DELL to be sure it is the latest and probably most compatible driver with your system.
