Video conversion software recommendation?

After looking around, I can't find a forum that this fits in. Please feel free to redirect me if I'm in the wrong spot.

My wife got me a video iPod for Christmas & I am looking for a good video converter for AVI and MPG's. Anyone have any recommendations?

I suggest WinAVI, easy to use and pretty fast considering...
