Dec 2, 2008 #1 cheer8923 Programmer Aug 7, 2006 230 US Control Panel -> Sound -> Hardware -> Video Codecs -> Properties -> Properties Choose any codec and click on Properties, it will say can't load it and it's not working. The result is that it can't play back any video. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks!

Downloading the whole codec package and re-installing it might help too if corruption is a problem? How to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934372 Some general things to look at. Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?). Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes. Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
