I need a top of the line video card with at least 2 ports so that I can drive two monitors at the same time. What would you recommend? Brand/Model/etc?

I'm quite impressed with my matrox millenium G550 with it's dualhead output.

For what purpose do you want the card - professional applications or all round performance? I'm starting to learn video editing and animation, as i improve I'll get a dedicated professional card but for now I went for something with good games and DVD performance with video in and out and twin view.
I got a Gainward Geforce4 Ti4600 Golden sample with ViVo (Video In, Video Out). I've never used two moitors before so I can't compare it with anything but in my experience with this card so far I get very clear crisp performance at high resolutions with two monitors, or monitor and TV. You can configure any combination of 2 displays using TV, monitor or LCD. You get three options for configuring your monitors; desktop stretched horizontally across both; stretched vertically or cloned displays (these are standard options for all nvidia nview boards I believe.) I was disappointed at not being able to have two seperate desktops, I was hoping to be able to watch DVD's on TV whilst working on the monitor, you can do it if DVD is in a window but if the DVD player is maximised, it maximises across both displays (even if prevent windows spanning monitors option is selected) - very annoying. One other annoying factor is that it is a long process to change display settings - if you want to change from single monitor to duel or visa versa you have to go to display properties, settings, advanced, nview and then change settings - takes about 20 seconds - fine for infrequent use, a real pain if wanting to switch regularly. Other than that the card performs well - excellent games and DVD performance (better than my Creative Encore for DVD) and impressive capture performance. If anyone can correct me on these points I'd appreciate knowing about it. (I've tried the profiles but they don't seem to do anything!)
Good luck finding what your after byteofram. Let us know what you go for.
