Well Im not sure what happened as all of a sudden I cant get my monitor to work withmy video card. I have an old P2 350 and had a 128 mb card in there and it was working fine for the longest while but when I decided to upgrade the ram it stopped working.

Its not the monitor as it seems to not work with any others I have. Anyone have the slightest idea as to what may have went wrong?

As soon as I get my hands on another Im going to see if that works

Well it may not be an issue wuth the vid card after all. It appears to fire up and everything but none of the CD-Roms work, the monitor isnt flickering anymore either so its looking as if its a startup error or perhaps worse. All Im getting is black screen.

I was running XP pro on my P2 350 with 256 MB's of Ram. The card was a ATI Radeon DDR 128 MB 8500 I believe.

Idea what went wrong?
If it happened when you installed a new 128mb ram stick
i would say that the two in there now is not compatible
with eachother . Or the new is not fully compatible with
your motherboard.

Nah I tried the old Ram and still getting the same thing.

Clear the cmos or remove the onboard battery for 20-30 seconds, some older motherboards have a bios that senses the memory change which has to be accepted, resetting will clear settings (re-adjust) this may allow things to boot.
It may also be worth your while removing and refitting the original memory again (reseating cures many ills)

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

No such luck. Took out the CMOS battery and already had the old memory in but have had no such luck

Did you power off the mobo completly
when changing parts ( disconnecting the ac from psu )
The mobo is still feed with power (standby power)
if its just shut down via windows.
It could be that something bad happened to
the mobo at your first mem swap when you were in there.

"Just a thought"

No such luck, I think the MB may be toast

Toast is good , especially with egg and butter.

Btw it sounds like it has had some years of usage since it's P2.
Fiddling with old hardware can often result in things like this.

Yeah not a big deal, it was just a spare so people dont hassle me to use mine :D

Oh well guess I will have to strip her for parts now
