VFP 3.0 & Insufficient Memory

I have a confusing issue that I've been trying to correct for a few weeks. And I have been researching other posts here regarding this topic. Here's the confusing part.
Recently (Last couple weeks) when I've tried to run a VFP 3.0b app, I'm receiving the Insufficient Memory error message and VFP won't even start. For the last 3 years, this was not a problem. Over time I have installed 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 and apps written in all versions have run with no problem, including 3.0. Yes, I have 512mb memory.
It's just confusing as why 3.0 "suddenly" is generating this error message.
Thoughts? Comments?

I had the same problem with 3.0b in XP.
With Windows NT or 98 no problems.

It started after installing some Windows XP updates.
I discovered that killing EM_EXEC.EXE (a Logitech mousedriver) in de tasklist solved te problem.

Maybe this is a solution for you too.

Interesting.
I just installed an updated Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse a couple weeks ago.
I have not installed SP2 for XP yet; I've been putting it off; I have installed some of the updates for Office XP but that was months ago.
The timing is probably correct; I think this problem started after I installed the new mouse, keyboard and obviously the drivers.
What is EM_EXEC.EXE do or what is it used for? Will my mouse/kb still function?

Killing EM_EXEC.EXE disables special (logitech added) functions of the mouse.
Windows will use the default MS-mousedriver.
If you kill it and you experience problems, just reboot; the original em_exec.exe will be back.

Hi Jack,
Sorry, I guess I'm not sure what you mean by killing it. I've seen documentation at Logitech that says to just dbl-click on the file in the Explorer to run it and change the settings. Well, I did that and it doesn't do anything. I thought that as an exe file it would run and present me with some options. Not so.

ps, I tried the dbl-click and then tried to start VFP3.0 with the same results; Insufficient Memory.

Press CTRL-ALT-Delete.
Click Taskmanager (lower-middle button)
Choose Tab "Proces" (second tab)
Look for EM_EXEC.EXE
Select by clicking on it.
Click End Process.

I have VFP 3.0 (+XPhome+SP2) and it cannot start because of ridiculous "insufficient memory" reason though I have 768 MB mainly because of speeding up some video editing. I can actually use my very simple genealogy VFP 3 application if I drop the MAXMEM value in Windows' boot.ini-file down to 240 MB and reboot the machine. Maybe 2-3 years ago I visited Microsoft's site which were stating that the error in question cannot have any work-around and that their advise is "buy a new version". Wanting not to invest too much for e.g. VFP 9 I'd like to have some advise how to avoid frequent edits of boot.ini or maybe to use a higher version than VFP 5 which seems to be no more available.
