Very Strange... Please Read

Hi Everyone,

I have a very strange problem with my PC that is really doing my head in. I have a DVD writer in my PC, is a SONY DW-D22A.

Now, up until a few days ago this writer worked fine for Both DVDRs and CDRs. But now... Whenever i put a blank CD in, it doesn't recognise it??. i.e. when i create a CD in Nero it just ejects the Blank CD and says 'please insert a blank CD', this is the same when using the XP thing through Windows Explorer..

I also tried inserting a CD-RW whith data on it which i wrote stuff to a few weeks ago, when I insert this and select 'Erase Re-Writable CD' in Nero, it just ejects the Disc and Says 'Please insert a CD-RW'.. Its so annoying, especially as it used to work fine and i haven't changed anything..

Blank DVDs work fine!!

Any help on this would be much appreciated.. I've tried upgrading the firmware on the drive and its still the same.. PLEASE HELP...

Clean the laser lenses.
(There are two - one for CDR/RW and one for DVD.)

Ok thanks, i'll give that a try... Its a relitively new drive though, i only got it at xmas.
