My users started concerning that sometimes there are silent between customers through ISDN. Please let me know what should I check and which log could help me understand the root cause

sorry, that little information is provided, but I'm newbie with Avaya administration but need to understand details

Please provide a little more info then, what release, what kind of ISDN: BRI, PRI (E1 T1?), What region are you in, like US, Europe?
Did you always have the problem, or since someone made a change somewhere?
Do you have a native oldfashioned PRI, or one of those SIP converted PRI'S (IP BOX that converts back to PRI on your location).
When this happens do you have this for the full duration of the call, or are you missing fragments of voice during the conversation.
Is this a single location, or is the G450 a node in a network of systems. All important to know.
We understand that you are a newbie, we all had to learn, but try to tell us all you know, and describe what happens in sequence.

ie: When a customer calls us on our on PRI line From Telco X Type A in country Y, then 1 out of a 1000 calls will connect but the caller hears nothing on his end for the duration of the call.
Then people on this forum will respond with what else we need to know, and where to look for you specific issue.

we use E1 and only one gateway G450 connected to ISDN. Actually users concerned rarely but on regular basis. about 4-5 calls every day are silent among 500 received

More info required are your handsets ip phones ??

If they are you could log onto the cli of the gateway and type "show faults" also test dsp resources .

You could really do with getting the users to document the time and date of the occurrence , then you can check "disp errors" and disp events" in CM then you can filter in those fields to see if you can see any mishaps at the documented times

Also your pri will have a ds1 (d channel) assigned, it is port 16 of the pri circuit so you can test the signalling group, also if you type list measurements ds-1 summary XXXX (port number) this will give you error info if there is any in a summary format

You can also test the ds1 board "test board xxxxx" xxxxx= board location.

You really could do with cathching this in real time with a list trace tacxxx , as this would give you a good idea of any issues in real view , but that is going to be extremly hard to catch unless you can do some aggressive testing ooh , that said hopefully the above commands will help.

Thanks, montyzummer

your reply will definitely help me with investigation. I'll try to do geet real time statistics and collect any historical info for analyzing to get it sorted out. There is a suspicion that it could be telco issue, as I see that silent may comes from appropriate list of PSTN extensions
