I have a very old max (8.71) which has died after the more than 20 ip addresses were attached to the port screen. As a result you cannot display the port assignment screen and max has stopped printing reports.

Does anyone know how to delete the ports in unix on max as we know that this will cure the problem.

I know it's a long shot but you may be a old max person like myself.

Regards

John

if your really old (like me) then you've got to know that cammands not used in 20 years may just slip into the abis. i would try a reboot, maybe you can find someone here with a antique manual.. haven't been on a site running max in almost 10 years

Hi John

Yes I am very old :) but wise. The site will not pay for symposium and we are inclined to let them just use acd c2 but the boss keeps saying you are engineers fix it.

We have rebooted many times, done a dummy upgrade and been down in the unix sub structure to no avail however today we have been given a name in Nortel Canada who wrote most of the max code and hopefully we may have a lead.

I was under the impression that if you configured a device with the IP address of the old printers that are no longer then you could then go into MAX and manually delete them. The problem usually occurs when the IT support move and change printers and then you need to re-configure them leaving the old IP address still intact. There was a way to re-configure the IP addresses as well but I cannot remember as has been some time. Hopefully the Nortel contact will be able to resolve fully for you.

I think you just need to go in through the maintenance terminal of MAX. Log in and select "shutdown the system". Then when the menu returns, go to the ports screen. You should be able to remove the IP addresses.
